A million circling lights from the spectacular disco ball, a 12ft glittering stiletto and enormous bow tie helped to yet again transform our hand-finishing department into a setting of sequins, glamour and cha cha cha for our Strictly Come ProCo Christmas celebration…
We didn’t have Tess Daily, but we had Jon Bailey and a bang-on impersonation of the humorously challenged Bruce Forsyth (aka Jim Smith in a chin)!
The show opened with a spectacular ballroom dance performance by our professional dancers, including recently crowned British Champions at the UK Championships in ballroom mecca Blackpool. Then it was over to our guests who literally filled the floor to show off their silky smooth dance moves in a lesson tutored by Sheffield’s City Limits Dance Studio owner Dale Bennett (yes, twin brother of Strictly’s very own Darren Bennett!)
Six couples, partnered by the professionals, were then chosen to compete in the Strictly Come ProCo ‘Dance Off’. It was ProCo’s very own ‘Gary, Gary, Gary..!’ Morton who, spurred by his colleagues chants and in awe of the male dancers physique, (in his very own words) ‘stuck out his chest, put his shoulders back and just went for it!’ And it paid off! Gary strutted the floor like a bejewelled peacock, shaking his pink sequinned tail feathers and winning over the judges and the audience alike with his awesome moves.
Later in the evening, ProCo’s own Mike ‘Ballroom’ Wilson and dance partner Tori’s performance was ambushed by PDG – not the Pineapple Dance Group, but the ProCo Dance Group! – who rushed the experienced team of two off the floor to provide their own special impromptu performance… (with not a rehearsal in sight…honest!)
Finally, the amazing ‘Nu York State’ filled the floor in an evening that will go down as the most glitzy and glam party in ProCo history. Enormous thanks to all who attended and who helped to make the evening so entertaining and a huge success!
It was so hard to choose from all the fantastic photographs of the evening, we just had to include lots (…and lots!) of them here.
There were so many videos sent to us from our guests filming the show on their phones in the audience, we thought we’d make a short film of all the clips for your viewing pleasure – you can watch it here. Enjoy!
